Latest Updates from Our Project:

Silent Street Station + December Update
7 months ago – Tue, Dec 16, 2025 at 09:58:20 AM

Happy December!
We're hard away at work getting the pdf ready to send out to backers. Josh is just through the Haunted Pacific Northwest and is jumping into a quick punch up of the Appendixes. That brings us pretty close to completion as the first two chapters are more straightforward in terms of layout and design.
- Chapter 1: Investigators Guide (50% laid out)
- Chapter 2: Facilitators Guide (0% laid out but is essays so the most straightforward of the bunch)
- Chapter 3: Catalog of the Strange (100% laid out)
- Chapter 4: Haunted Pacific Northwest - setting and adventures (95% laid out)
- Chapter 5: Appendices (95% laid out, but does still need the maps made for the generic maps)

SILENT STREET STATION
As a sneak peak prior to the pdf rolling out we wanted to send out the Silent Street adventure. This is one of the stretch goals and is a fun one for the table. It includes the Dwindling Party appendix (our funnel rules) so you can run it as is or with the funnel rule! The pdf has been put in the backerkit fulfillment google folder (see below under Exclusive Content).

Einfühlung: A Liminal Horror Starter Scenario
8 months ago – Wed, Nov 19, 2025 at 08:58:07 AM

We are excited to release the full version of Einfühlung to backers. This Liminal Horror starter scenario was made possible by you all, and we're excited for you to have it land in your inboxes. Through backerkit you will recieve the Einfühlung pdf, along with our new set of pregenerated investigators and a surprise additional starter scenario Stopover at the Shelterwood Inn. As with all of our releases, we will fulfill them through backerkit and then in the near future we will also provide them over itch & drivethrurpg!

WHAT IS EINFÜHLUNG?
The artist Katherine Campbell is gone. The rumors say she was nearing completion on her magnum opus, a painting no one else has set eyes on, when she disappeared under mysterious circumstances. Her house now sits as she left it, just waiting for someone to come unveil the mystery within.

Einfühlung is an introductory scenario for Liminal Horror, providing nearly everything you need to jump in to play for both brand new and well-seasoned players. Take the role of the cast and crew of This Mysterious Life, a paranormal investigation television show, as they dive into the depths of the Campbell House attempting to discover the fate of its missing owner. But locked away in Katherine's studio is a sinister secret, one that threatens the lives of all who enter this house.
Bound within you'll find:
  • A condensed version of the core rules of Liminal Horror, providing the barebones needed to get playing.
  • A ready-to-run scenario suitable for around 1-3 sessions of play that's sure to leave lasting consequences for your Investigators.
  • Advice to help onboard new Facilitators.
  • Six pre-generated Investigators so you can dive right into the action.

Bonus Scenario: Stopover at the Shelterwood Inn

Interrupting a lonely stretch of highway, nestled between towering pines, lies the Shelterwood Inn. To the weary traveler, its blazing neon sign promises a restful stay … but a deep darkness hangs beneath the glow. On this rainy night the fate of two parties intertwine, and both face that darkness: one to survive, the other to control.

Stopover at the Shelterwood Inn is a surprise companion scenario. A redux of the original scenario One Night at the Shelterwood Inn, this new edition has been revamped to be better focused on Liminal Horror and align with the framing of Einfühlung. Take the role of unfortunate souls stranded in a lonely hotel who have unknowingly walked into the middle of a clash between a clandestine organization and a sinister horror hiding beneath the surface.

Einfühlung (playable draft - updated to final draft)
9 months ago – Tue, Oct 28, 2025 at 08:15:28 AM

Update: We have released the final draft of this adventure and its available through backerkit and other modes!

Happy almost Halloween!
We wanted to get this out to backers so that people could potentially bring this to their table for a Halloween game!

Einhühlung is our version of a haunted house starter scenario. There is everything you need to get your players plugged in to the world of Liminal Horror (it also acts as a great launching point for other modules/some of the included scenarios in the Deluxe Edition).

This version is text complete, though there are some design elements that have yet to be completed. It is headed off to the final editing/proofing pass and hyperlinking while Josh works on pulling together the remaining assets.

In its current state, it is a fully playable scenario. We've decided to release the current version in a preview state so that there's a chance for folks to squeeze a session in this week if you desire.

We're in the final stretch not only for this stretch goal zine but for the Deluxe Edition as a whole. We are doing final layout, design punch up, and assets for the Deluxe Edition over this next month!

Until next time!

Also if you are itching for more Liminal Horror there is a great jam going on now: https://itch.io/jam/liminal-horror-halloween-monster-jam

Note: Below in the exclusive content for backers is a google drive link (as an alternative way to access the preview module vs the backerkit distribution):

October Update!
9 months ago – Sat, Oct 04, 2025 at 02:05:43 PM

Hello Backers!
We wanted to pop in and share what's been going on with the Liminal Horror Deluxe Edition Development!

NEW TEST PRINT
We were able to order a test print of the Limited-Edition (linen-bound, embossed hardcover) version of LIMINAL HORROR: Deluxe Edition. The print quality came out great and will hold up not only to use at the table but will stay looking good on your shelf!

DEVELOPMENT UPDATE
  • Josh wrote up a great look at where our writing focus has been: "So where is the Deluxe Edition? The simple answer is we're still trucking away. It ended up taking a bit longer than initially expected to get the Einfühlung as perfect as we knew it needed to be, which drew our focus prior to finishing the layout of the hardcover. Once that was handed off to editing, we re-examined what we had drafted for Cult Classic and decided some change was in order. While Einfühlung is written to be an "all-on-one" standalone package of everything you need for a night or two of gaming, we figured it would be in our best interest to make some overt connections to one of the scenarios in the DE so that we would already have an answer primed and ready for the question of "what happens next?" once folks finish Einfühlung. That ultimately meant throwing out about 2/3 of what was drafted for Cult Classic. The good news is that the new direction has relit the fires of inspiration and the new draft is nearing completion (we have one last part of the Shifting Studio "dungeon" to finish drafting). So the end result will be a scenario that works great on its own or as some connective tissue to a greater arc. As it stands right now, the scenario is the size of something you'd traditionally see in a separate zine, but will be included directly in the book. This means that the books is ultimately going to take a bit longer to get out to y'all, but it will be a better end result for it. The tl;dr version is that two of the written adventures (Cult Classic and Einfühlung) ended up being 30-50 pages adventures with a connective narrative tissue between them.
  • Cult Classic: Is almost ready to hand off to Jert for editing, and then we'll get it into the main book layout.
  • Layout/Design: Then our main focus will be getting the remaining 25% of the manuscript into layout, and then Josh will be doing the final design punch ups. After that is complete, they will do the same for Einfühlung while I work on the annotating and hyperlinking.

OCTOBER LIMINAL HORROR JAM
For fun we are hosting a Halloween Monster Jam. We're looking forward to seeing what the community cooks up. If you've ever thought about making something for ttrpgs, this is a great way to get started as all you need to make is a cool monster! https://itch.io/jam/liminal-horror-halloween-monster-jam

THANK YOU
September was definitely a busy time all around, both in game terms and outside of games. We're excited for this final stretch as we take this over the finish line! Thank you for your continued support and giving us the opportunity to create something truly special for you all!

For the exclusive content below we've included the link to the adventure Camp Coldwater as well as the draft pre-gens from Einfühlung!

September Update (and a sneak peak adventure)
10 months ago – Mon, Sep 08, 2025 at 11:08:01 AM

Hey backers!
As we swing into fall we wanted to keep you updated on the progress of the Liminal Horror Deluxe Edition!

Note: Pre-Orders are still open! https://liminal-horror-deluxe-edition.backerkit.com/hosted_preorders

Dev Updates:
  • Case Files 01: Is complete and the pdf has been delivered to backers! Josh made some tweaks to the cover to make it look a bit more manila file looking:

  • Cult Classic: We are wrapping up the stretch adventure Cult Classic. After finishing Einfühlung, we realized these two adventures were in conversation with each other, so we did some rewrites in order to align them closer and place Cult Classic more firmly in a murder mystery that shifts into [redacted]. Those rewrites are almost finished and then it is off to editing with Jert! This is the last piece of writing for the entire project. One thing worth noting is that this included adventure is around 30+ pages, and is almost module-sized in and of itself.
  • Deluxe Edition: We have about all of the text written and through editing (sans the adjustments to Cult Classic). Around 70% of the book is in draft layout (with the remaining 30% being the rules and Facilitator chapters which are fairly straightforward in their design and implementation). Getting the remaining portion into draft layout will be a fairly quick process, and then we will comb through the book doing the design punching up (which mirrors our process for text punching up). This process is fairly quick as once we get into the design aesthetics established we tear through the text. The final step will be concurrent (with a line editing pass for any errors and hyperlinking/annotating/pagination).
  • Einfühlung: The text has been fully edited and is in draft layout. The final step will be to do the design punch up (which mirrors the process we will do for the Deluxe Edition). We're really proud of this starter adventure and are excited to get it into your hands. This one definitely evolved in scope (being 40+/50+ page zine (and is one of the reasons the other portions of the Deluxe Edition have had to wait as we got this one just right). Zach did some great art for the pre-generated Investigators (our crew of This Mysterious Life that was first introduced in One Night at the Shelterwood Inn). Alongside the starter adventure, having a robust set of pre-gens/crew framing will be a major benefit for players and Facilitators!

But Goblin, are you saying I need to wait longer for things? The short answer is yes, but I don't want to leave you without anything. Last month we released Case Files 01, so this month we wanted to give you another toy to play with. In the Backer Only content is a link to the draft export for one of the included stretch scenarios: Camp Coldwater. This can function as a prequel for The Bloom and is a riff on the classic camp slasher genre. Note that this is the pre-design-punch up draft layout and so the final product may be subject to change, but all the text and heart of it will be the same. So pop in your favorite Friday the 13th installment (at this moment mine is Friday the 13th Part IV: The Final Chapter) and get ready to see if your Investigators can survive the night!
