Latest Updates from Our Project:

Deep Dive Inside The Catalog of the Strange
over 1 year ago – Fri, Apr 25, 2025 at 10:33:09 AM

We've been so excited about the reception around Liminal Horror Deluxe Edition that we wanted to provide a look at what the inside of the book will look like. Below are a few different spreads that give you a sense of what the different sections of the book will look like, and to see what our vision for layout will be. The manuscript is completed, first round of edits are in, and we've been working away at laying out this 350+ page book.

FACTIONS
One of the parts of The Catalog of the Strange (our take on a bestiary) are the Factions. These organizations are secondary antagonists that can help or hinder the Investigators as they grapple with the weird. One of the main Factions in the text, and throughout the official modules, is The Bureau.

One of the writing/design goals of this project was to create usable material that supports play. So for factions we wanted to give enough for Facilitators to leverage these forces within their games. This includes the goals of the factions, key personnel, headquarters, resources & methods, allies, adversaries, and contracts that they could offer Investigators. We also include stats for different operatives aligned to the faction.

HORRORS
The Catalog of the Strange is by far the largest chapter of the book (coming in at around 1/4 of the total manuscript). One of the largest parts of that are the Horrors. We have a ton of different monsters presented for use within your games. Some cover a single page, a spread, or even multiple pages. The goal for them was to provide usable and dynamic toolkits to help you in running and using them at your table. Below is a spread that includes two example single page monsters.

Liminal Horror stat blocks are pretty straight forward (with stats, weapon, special abilities, and small description). We wanted to expand these as well to provide usable content to help you understand how to tweak and run these. For the Warped, we included a table of variants that provide unique twists on the original creature along with seeds for how they were warped. For Dissonant Artifacts we include variants and information on how to scatter them through your game.

RESONANT ARTIFACTS
Our take on magic items, these objects are infused with the same resonant energies that make the monsters within the game. They offer great boons and sometimes come with a terrible cost. We have around 50 of these objects within the text.

OTHER SECTIONS IN THE CATALOG
We have a few other sections in the catalog that include Cults and a list of weird NPCs called Allies & Adversaries

EXCLUSIVE
Exclusively for backers is an additional horror spread detailing The Shadow (below).

Next time we will take a look at my favorite part of the the book... the Generic Locations!

over 1 year ago – Wed, Apr 23, 2025 at 07:20:41 AM

Hello everyone, we hope your week is going well! Thanks to your support, we have smashed through the $90k stretch goal. Now we will print physical copies of the Case Files for all physical backers!

This means a lot to us, as a small business struggling in the big old world, and we thank you all with our deepest sincerity.

Let's keep up this head of steam and smash more goals!

Cheers from the team!

By Popular Demand, Add-Ons are now available.
over 1 year ago – Sat, Apr 19, 2025 at 11:52:16 AM

Hi everyone. Due to popular demand we have enabled add-ons for the zine modules as well as extra copies of either print run of Liminal Horror Deluxe Edition. Thank you all for writing in and letting us know what you wanted.

For those of you who have already backed, you can go into your BackerKit account and adjust your pledge as you see fit. Thanks!

For those who haven't, when you check out your Pledge Level you will also be asked if you want to add anything else to your order. Then would be the time to add-on those extra books.

Cheers and we hope you all are having a great weekend!

Another Stretch Goal Down! Here come the Case Files!
over 1 year ago – Thu, Apr 17, 2025 at 08:03:00 AM

Wow! We’ve already blown past our first Stretch Goal of phase 2! That means we’ve unlocked Case Files 01! This zine is a collection of short works for Liminal Horror. Think of it as our version of Carcass Crawler for OSE. There will definitely be more in this series, but you’ll be able to get it first (and if we unlock the physical goal then for free as a printed zine).

But what is in Case Files 01? Well, a bunch of killer stuff, some new, some old, but all worth it for your table.

Be warned, here is just a taste of what is inside.

Adventures: We wanted to bring some adventures into the print fold so they can easily be run at your tables.
  • Recursive Transit: Josh will be updating their one page dungeon contest winner circle entry for Liminal Horror. Also worth noting that Goblin loves a good time loop so this one makes him very happy.
  • The Chair: Zach Hazard Vaupen’s amazing pamphlet adventure will be reformatted for inclusion here, bringing the adventure to many new eyes and into distribution in zine format.
  • The Black Wall: You’ve saved the test subject, and will now be hunted until you put an end to Panopticon’s meddling. A psionic fueled adventure setup inspired by Akira, Firestarter, and Beyond the Black Rainbow.

Supplemental Content: Some additional goodies and play options for your tables.
  • Psionic Fallout: Rules for introducing psychic powers to your games, and the risks inherent in breaking those barriers.
  • Additional Horrors
  • More Rituals

Next stop is 90k, where we will print the Case Files zine and it will be sent to all physical backers!

Over the next while we will be giving deeper looks at different parts of the book, including what the text/layout will look like. This tome is chocked full of tools, resources, and killer stuff. Our design goal was make a book that supports people bringing horror to their tables with ease.

Scenario #3 & Future Hidden Stretch Goals!
over 1 year ago – Wed, Apr 16, 2025 at 08:46:12 AM

We've hit our 4th stretch goal and have the final adventure included in the book. This also means we get to reveal the hidden stretch goals!!!

SILENT STREET STATION is the third included scenario and functions as a means to use the Funnel Rules as well as showcase how a Facilitator can adapt one of our Generic Location Maps into an adventure.

OVERVIEW
  • Length: 1-2 sessions.
  • Genre: Thriller, Outbreak
  • Location: Seattle, WA
  • Major Theme: Survival
  • Content Warning: Body horror, violence, infection.
  • Touchstones: Train to Busan (2016), Silent Hill 3 (2003), Cell (2006).

The grille door at the entrance to the subway station rattles against the horde of bodies pressed up against it, some terrible affliction driving them to violence. It was rolled down in time to save those that ran down here, but it will not hold for long. One train remains down at the platform. It just might be the only way you’re getting out of here alive.

Silent Street Station is a scenario designed for use with the funnel mechanics presented in Appendix: Funnel Rules, or as a challenging gauntlet for standard Investigators.

An outbreak has begun to spread in the city, transforming its residents into near mindless creatures intent on further spreading the contagion. Trapped in a subway station with only a buckling security gate holding back a horde of these creatures, your survivors will need to navigate the station’s perils if they hope to make it out alive before the gate buckles and the horde is let loose to tear through the station.

REVEALING THE NEXT SET OF UPCOMING STRETCH GOALS

We are excited to announce the next batch of stretch goals. Don't worry, Josh and I have ideas for some extra things if we blow past this next set.

  • ($70k) Case Files 01 (digital zine): Each backer would receive a digital version of Liminal Horror Case Files, a new collection of short adventures, locations, factions, and monsters.
  • ($90k) Case Files 01 (printed zine): Each backer who backed a physical reward will receive a printed version of Liminal Horror Case Files, a new collection of short adventures, locations, factions, and monsters.
  • ($100k) PDF Module Bundle (digital): All backers get a digital module bundle included with purchase, which includes PDFs of all official modules: The Bloom, The Mall, The Bureau, One Night at the Shelterwood Inn, The Parthenogenesis of Hungry Hollow.
  • ($120k) Haunted House Starter Adventure (digital zine): Each backer would receive a digital version of a new starter adventure by Josh Domanski and Goblin Archives.
  • ($150k) Haunted House Starter Adventure (printed zine): Each backer who backed a physical reward will receive a printed version of a starter adventure by Josh Domanski and Goblin Archives.
  • ($180k) The Bureau Remastered (digital zine): We would prepare the module for reprint and give it the same treatment as The Mall Remastered, updating some areas and expanding some content for the original zine. This would prioritize this work and bring it back into the Liminal Horror ecosystem on a quicker timeline.
  • ($210k) The Bureau Remastered (physical zine): Each backer who backed a physical reward will receive a print version of The Bureau Remastered.
